You want to know, how to grind more than 10 mobs simultaneous? Than this mage grinding guide is the right guide for you!
But first of all, why Grinding? Grinding means killing the same type of mob again and again and players do it for several reasons: Farming EXP, items, gold or reputation.
In my opinion, grinding is not the best or fastest way to level your character – but if you want to do it, I want to help you to do it as fast as possible!
The best way to grind successfully with your mage is to start with the right talent build. My mage grinding guide will show you a great talent build that helps you to get the most for your effort: The Frost talent build.
The frost spec is perfect for grinding because of two major reasons: Superior AoE power and survivability! When it comes to AoE damage, no other talent build is as effective as the frost spec.
Mage Grinding Guide – The Frost Talent Build (0/0/71)
There’s one thing you have to focus on. And that’s your ability to pull a dozen mobs to one place, freeze them and kill them as fast as possible with your AoE spells.
Seriously, every talent you choose should enhance this ability. Talents like Frost Bite are contra productive. Sure, they come in handy in PvP, but slowing down targets unwillingly will make it harder for you to concentrate them all in one spot.
I recommend you to get the right glyphs to support your frost spec. When it comes to major glyphs I found Frost Nova, Ice Armor and Ice Barrier more than effective.
Mage Grinding Guide – Your AoE Strategy
Now we come to the point. As I said, grinding is most effective with an AoE tactic. It’s all about gathering mobs and killing them with your area of effect spells.
Here’s the rotation that I highly recommend to take down 10+ mobs at once:
Pull 10+ mobs (while being mounted) > Frost Nova them all on one spot > Get some distance with Blink > Blizzard (mostly between you and the targets > Blizzard (again) -> Cone of Cold -> WIN!
If there are any mobs left after CoC, you can easily cast Frost Nova and Blizzard again to get rid of them. All that’s left is to collect the loot.
Mage Grinding Guide – The Best Way To Use Grinding
Grinding is great if you want to farm items and gold. It’s also great for farming reputation and your AoE power makes it even easier.
But it is NOT the fastest way to get to level 80. If you want to farm gold and reputation that’s fine, but if you want to level faster let me give you one well-meant advice. It’s all about QUESTING. In the past, a mage grinding guide was viable for leveling, but those days are gone!
If you want to level as fast as possible, get yourself an in-game mage leveling guide. Those are add-ons that tell you exactly what to do to level 1-80 without wasting any time. Think of them as step-by-step blueprints that give you the perfect questing-path.
